Perturbed about the taste of a hamburger she purchased from Hardee’s, a Tennessee woman twice called police emergency operators to lodge a complaint about the fast food outlet’s “nasty” grub.

Those calls, of course, made Donna Marie Nichols, 50, the latest restaurant patron to get arrested for “Abuse of 911 system,” according to a criminal complaint filed last Thursday in Roane County’s General Sessions Court.

After Nichols made two 911 calls, a cop responded to her location, and was told that she “had purchased a meal from the Hardees in Rockwood and that the hamburger tasted funny.” Nichols, pictured in the above mug shot, added that before she contacted cops, she called Hardee’s, “and that they told her to return and they would refund her money.”

In one of her 911 calls (listen), Nichols told a police operator that the Hardee’s food “is no good” and that, “I only took a small bite out of the burger and it’s nasty.”

Nichols was subsequently busted and booked into the county jail, where bail was set at $1500. She was released from custody yesterday evening.

I tell ya where I riot to make a bold statement.....WALGREENS ~WTF

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - North Miami Beach police said surveillance video shows dozens of high school students demonstrating in the Trayvon Martin case Friday ransacking a Walgreens store.

The incident occurred during a walkout from North Miami Beach Senior High School in support of Martin, 17, who was fatally shot in Sanford. Protesters have been calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman, 28, who has not been charged because he claimed self-defense in the shooting, according to police.

Minutes after walking out of their school Friday, a large group of students walked through the streets of North Miami Beach. Along the way, they stopped at a Walgreens at 163rd Street and 15th Avenue at about 10:40 a.m.

Surveillance video shows dozens of teenagers running through the store. Police said about 80 to 100 students stormed in, ransacking the shelves, before the school's vice principal ordered everyone outside.

North Miami Beach police said students damaged items worth about $150.

"We do not accept any type of violation on the part of our students," Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said Friday. "There ought to be consequences, and we'll be collaborating with whatever law enforcement entity is investigating that issue."

"I don't think they were doing it, like, to be malicious or whatever. They were just in the moment where they weren't really thinking right because they were so angry," said student Jenny Sincere.

"It showed bad character because that's not what we were out there for," student Eric On-Sang said. "A few just made us look really bad."

Some students admitted Tuesday to being part of the rampage.

"I'm not going to lie. I was one of the people that was pushing in there because I was mad," one student said.

When asked whether the incident may have hurt their cause, student Christopher Paul said, "Yeah, it kind of did, yeah. I was just angry. I don't know what the rest of them were doing. I was just trying to make a point for Trayvon. That's it."

No injuries were reported.

Some of the students dropped their IDs on the way out of the store, police said, so investigators have an idea of who was inside.

The School Board said the students involved could be prosecuted and face disciplinary action at the school.

Two men have taken the fierce Kentucky-Louisville sporting rivalry to another level, getting into a fist fight during treatment at a dialysis clinic. Fans of Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals fight at dialysis clinic ahead of teams Final Four meeting between the two teams in the NCAA tournament, WKYT-TV reported Tuesday.

"I think this is a first at a dialysis center," Lt. Robert Swanigan said.

Wilson, who was getting treatment when the fight took place Monday, claims Taylor was running his mouth about how Louisville would beat the Wildcats.

"That's what started it," he said.

But Taylor, who was waiting for treatment at the time, saw it differently.

"I didn't talk to him about the ball game. I was talking to another guy about the game," Taylor said. "[Wilson] was meddling and told me to shut up and gave me the finger.

"I wasn't gonna take no more from him," Taylor added. "I went up to him and I hit him. Didn't hit him that hard, but I hit him."

Wilson, restricted because of the treatment, said it was difficult to retaliate.

"I'm sitting there hooked up to a machine and I can't do anything," he said.

Wilson said he was sorry the incident happened and that he hoped Taylor "won't come [to the clinic] at the same time as me anymore."

Wilson, who will not be filing charges against Taylor, said a Wildcats win would be all the justice he needed

ATTALLA, Ala. (AP) — Roger Simpson said he looked down the road and saw a little girl running outside her home but didn't give it another thought. Police, however, said the man witnessed a murder in progress.

Authorities say 9-year-old Savannah Hardin died after being forced to run for three hours as punishment for having lied to her grandmother about eating candy bars. Severely dehydrated, the girl had a seizure and died days later. Now, her grandmother and stepmother who police say meted out the punishment were taken to jail Wednesday and face murder charges.

Witnesses told deputies Savannah was told to run and not allowed to stop for three hours on Friday, an Etowah County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said. The girl's stepmother, 27-year-old Jessica Mae Hardin, called police at 6:45 p.m., telling them Savannah was having a seizure and was unresponsive.

Simpson said he saw a little girl running at around 4 p.m., but didn't see anybody chasing or coercing her.

"I saw her running down there, that's what I told the detectives," Simpson said from his home on a hill overlooking the Hardins. "But I don't see how that would kill her."

Authorities are still trying to determine whether Savannah was forced to run by physical coercion or by verbal commands. Deputies were told the girl was made to run after lying to her grandmother, 46-year-old Joyce Hardin Garrard, about having eaten the candy, sheriff's office spokeswoman Natalie Barton said.

Savannah Hardin died Monday at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The sheriff's release said an autopsy report showed the girl was extremely dehydrated and had a very low sodium level. A state pathologist ruled it a homicide.

The sheriff's office received calls from concerned citizens who witnessed the girl running. No other details were released, but an official with the local volunteer fire department said rescuers thought something seemed odd when they responded to a call about the child.

"One of the ones who were down there said he didn't feel like everything was right," said Ruby Ward, vice president of the Mountainboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Gail Denny and her husband Phil, live just up a dirt road from the home. They've known the family since they moved to the area in northeastern Alabama seven years ago.

The couple said they were used to seeing Savannah and other neighborhood children out waiting on the school bus in the morning. Gail Denny said her grandson had a crush on Savannah.

"My grandson asked her to be his girlfriend on Valentine's Day, and she said 'yes,'" she said before dissolving into tears. She left a candle and stuffed animal outside the girl's home Wednesday night, saying a prayer as she paused beside the road.

The trailer where Savannah lived was surrounded by a wooden fence, playground equipment and toys. Neighbors say they never saw children playing in the yard.

They told The Associated Press that Garrard owned a lot of property along the road and much of her family lived in homes on that property.

"It seems like a very happy extended family around here," Denny said. "There are mothers, grandmothers, kids. It sounds like a punishment that got out of hand."

Garrard and Jessica Mae Hardin are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center, each on a $500,000 cash bond.

Court records show that Robert Hardin filed for divorce in August of 2010. In his complaint, he asserted his wife was bi-polar and had alcoholic tendencies. He accused her previously of having run off with the couple's own child. In her response, Jessica denied all of Robert's allegations.

Five months after filing for divorce, the two asked a judge to dismiss their case.

Savannah Hardin was a third-grader at Carlisle Elementary School. Superintendent Alan Cosby said her desk had been turned into a makeshift memorial where her classmates could leave notes and mementos. He said counselors and social workers were made available for students.

"This is obviously a very tragic, devastating, heartbreaking situation," Cosby said. "Nothing like this has ever happened before."

A South Bend mother returned home Monday night with her son and discovered Keith Davis, 46, had broken in and cleaned her apartment in the 4600-block of Lance Court.

"I seen my living room light on and the bedroom light on, so once we came up the stairs I figured my brother was home. I turned the knob and it was locked, so I seen my screen open and I pushed my window open and it was some random guy in my kitchen," said tenant Ashley Murray.

Murray then walked away from the window with her son and called police before yelling at Davis to leave her home.

"I'm like 'the police are on their way' and he told me 'the police already been here', closed my window, locked it back up and closed my door and sat in a chair in front of the window until the police came. Once I finally got a chance to get in I then notice he cooked some chicken and onions in a pan, folded my clothes up and swept my floor," said Murray. "The police said it looked like he was a good chef. it looked like he had broth and everything in it."

Davis told police he had woken up in the apartment and a woman told him to get a set of keys from a closet. Murray said Davis had a set of her keys in his pocket when he was arrested and suspects Davis had been watching her and saw when she placed a set of keys in a storage unit for her brother to use when he arrived later that night from Indianapolis.

When officers asked Davis where he lived he gave officers an address on Lance Court that didn't exist.

Davis was arrested despite adamantly stating he was in his own home and charged with breaking and entering, a Class D felony.

"Me and the police think he was on some type of drug. He really seemed to think this was his home," said Murray. "How could you not look at the pictures and none of that and realize you don't know nobody? I don't think no drug can do that once you come in and see there's nothing in here that you know. The apartments are alike, but you knew this wasn't your house."

Murray said her son later recognized Davis as a neighbor from across the complex who he had seen staring at him and his friends as they played outside.

Despite breaking into the apartment, Davis didn't steal anything beyond the food.

"He drunk up my orange juice, but it's cool because he swept up my floor and folded my clothes," said Murray.

Prosecutors requested a $5,000 bond because Murray was concerned he may return, however the judge lowered it to $1,000.

What do you call a drug dealer with one leg trying to escape from police? Caught.

No, this isn't open mic night at the Chuckle Hut, this is quite naturally real Florida news.

Police in Jacksonville got a tip that black GMC SUV was carrying narcotics on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Times-Union. An officer found a car matching the description and pulled up behind it. That's when 27-year-old Ariosto Wyman got out of the passenger seat and attempted to flee.

Unfortunately for Wyman his right leg had been amputated below his knee. According to the arrest report he "began to hop down the sidewalk away from [police]." Mind you, according to his booking data Wyman is 5'6" and 300 pounds.

He didn't get far, and police didn't even bother chasing him. They merely called him, and he decided to hop on back. Good call, considering he probably didn't have much of a chance at escape otherwise.

Police searched him an uncovered a baggie of marijuana and 120 grams of cocaine on his person. A digital scale with cocaine residue was also found on the floorboard in the car next to Wyman's single shoe.

Wyman now faces four drug charges, and one count of operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

10 grand??? What the hell is her ass made of? Sandpaper? ~WTF

(Reuters) - A 36-year-old woman was accused of causing $10,000 worth of damage to a painting by the late abstract expressionist artist Clyfford Still, a work valued at more than $30 million, authorities said on Wednesday.

A police report said Carmen Tisch punched and scratched the painting, an oil-on-canvas called "1957-J no.2", at the recently opened Clyfford Still museum in Denver and pulled her pants down to slide her buttocks against it.

Tisch was charged with felony criminal mischief on Wednesday and has been held on a $20,000 bond since the incident in late December, said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Kimbrough said Tisch urinated after she rubbed up against the canvas, but whether urine got on the painting was still under investigation, she said.

Born in North Dakota in 1904, Still was considered one of the most influential of the American post-World War Two abstract expressionist artists, although he was not as well known as others such as Jackson Pollock.

Still died in 1980, and the city of Denver worked for years with his widow, Patricia, to secure the single-artist museum. She died in 2005, and her husband's collection was bequeathed to the city.

Four of Still's works were auctioned by Sotheby's last year for $114 million to endow the Denver museum, which opened with much fanfare in November.

Because Still closely guarded his works, most of the pieces at his namesake museum had not previously been displayed.

Tisch will be formally advised of the charges on Friday, Kimbrough said

A man who "pulled his penis out and urinated on the floor" and who passed gas with an "unbearable" aroma was arrested after accusations of 911 misuse, according to a recently released affidavit.

A Fort Pierce police officer Dec. 17 was in Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute's emergency room when Isreal Rosado, 44, was discharged. Rosado refused to leave until he got a meal, and police told him to leave.

"The suspect would not follow orders given and pulled his penis out and urinated on the floor," an affidavit states.

An officer directed Rosado to a phone after he said he needed a ride. The officer told Rosado he needed to vacate the premises, and he said he wanted to go to a mental health center for a meal.

Another officer said Rosado, of the 700 block of Palm Avenue in Fort Pierce, previously called 911 for a ride.

He was arrested on charges including misuse of 911 and trespass after warning.

The officer patted Rosado down for weapons and he "continued to pass gas."

"The aroma was unbearable," an affidavit states.

HONOLULU (AP) — A Hawaii man was charged with four counts of assault after allegedly attacking a group of men with what is believed to be a cow's thighbone, police on the Big Island said Wednesday.

Officers responded to a report of a brawl outside a Kailua-Kona bar on Christmas Eve and arrived to find four men with injuries from an attack. Bar patrons were holding Gregory Haas, 45, who witnesses told police attacked the men with the bone.

"He did indicate that he did actually find it in pastureland here in the Kona area," Lt. Gerald Wike said Wednesday. The weapon was recovered at the scene and taken as evidence. Police are sure it's a bone from a large animal and are trying to determine with certainty that it's from a cow.

"It's unusual someone using that as a weapon," he said. "This is the first that I have experienced an assault taking place with what appears to be an animal bone."

The attack in the Gold Coast Center parking lot was "unprovoked," Wike said, adding that Haas appeared to be intoxicated.

One of the victims, 40, was hit in the head and airlifted to a Honolulu hospital in critical condition. He has since been discharged and returned to the Big Island, Wike said. Another man, 25, was treated at Kona Community Hospital for cuts to his head and released. Two others, 65 and 49, received injuries that did not require medical attention.

He was charged with one count of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, according to the Hawaii County prosecuting attorney's office. Haas could not be reached Wednesday at Hawaii Community Correctional Center, where he is being held in lieu of $55,000 bail.

A Connecticut man with a drug addiction and a spastic colon allegedly defecated in the parking lot of a New Milford bank before robbing the establishment. The man's wife and kids were with him and sat in the getaway car, police said.

Russell Mace, 55, was arraigned in Bantam Superior Court Monday, charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and two counts of impairing the morals of a child. Judge Richard Marino set Mace's bond at $100,000 and ordered him to appear in court again on Jan. 4.

Mace's charges stem from a bizarre bank robbery that occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 16 at the Union Savings Bank on East Street in New Milford. While the robbery itself was par for the course, police said that Mace's alleged activities prior to the heist were far from normal.

"It's a first in my career," New Milford Police Lt. Lawrence Ash told The Huffington Post.

Minutes before the robbery, a female witness saw Mace exiting a white Toyota Camry that was in the bank parking lot. Afterward, he squatted down and began "pooping," the witness said according to the arrest affidavit.

"The customer told me that the man was going to the bathroom and [said] 'he's not doing what you think he’s doing,'" the teller told police. "The customer said he's doing a number 2, and he's not being discreet."

After allegedly finishing the bowel movement, Mace, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, headed for the bank entrance.

"Before they had any time to react to what was occurring outside, the accused robber entered the bank and demanded money," Ash said.

Mace, whom a male teller later described as "sweating" and "nervous," allegedly put his hand in his pocket and said: "This is a robbery. Give me all your money. Don't include any singles ... and don't do anything stupid."

The pooping bandit was given more than $3,000 in cash. Money in hand, he exited the bank and got into his waiting getaway vehicle, where his wife and two children, ages 1 and 4, were waiting, police said.

It did not take long for investigators to come up with a suspect in the case.

"He was identified by bank surveillance images," Ash said. "Some of our officers recognized him from prior contact."

That prior contact occurred on Nov. 23, when someone snatched a purse containing $80 in cash and several credit cards from a woman in the parking lot of a New Milford store. The woman told police a car had pulled up next to her shopping cart and that a woman reached out the window and grabbed her purse. Using surveillance camera footage, police were able to trace the car's license plate to Mace's wife, Erin Mace, 35.

In November, Police went to the Maces' apartment on two separate occasions -- once on the Nov. 23 and once on the Nov. 26 -- to question the couple. During the first visit, Russell Mace denied that he or his wife were involved in the purse snatching.

"We were not there," he told police. "I don't care if God said so."

During the second visit, the couple's 4-year-old child asked the officers, "Are you going to arrest my daddy?" The child then blurted out, "Daddy didn't take the purse ... my Mommy did. ... She took it right from the fat lady," the police report stated.

The Maces agreed to come to police headquarters for further questioning. When they failed to show up, a warrant was issued for their arrest.

Once police had identified Russell Mace as the man in the bank surveillance footage, they pinged the location of the cellphone that he had listed in the prior police report. They successfully traced the phone's location to a New Britain drug store.

In custody, Russell Mace refused to speak with police.

"He has not offered any explanation for any of his actions," Ash said.

According to the News Times of Danbury, Russell Mace suffers from "nervous bowels." The newspaper also said he has a prior criminal record in Connecticut. Mace reportedly served time in a federal prison for a 1989 bank robbery.

Erin Mace told police she didn't know her husband had planned to rob the bank. "I thought Russell might have had to cash a check," she told police. She said it was not until he got in the car and pulled out a handful of cash that she was aware of what he had done.

"At this point, I had a pretty good idea that he robbed the bank," she told police.

Investigators recovered $2,777 of the stolen loot. Erin Mace told police that she and her husband had used a portion of the money to purchase heroin, medication and food for the children.

"Russell is not a violent person," Erin Mace told police. "He never had a gun and would never be violent towards another person. Russell robbed the bank out of desperation. Russell was just doing it for the family."

Erin Mace was charged with third-degree burglary from a vehicle, fifth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a minor. Authorities are still weighing potential charges against her in relation to the bank robbery. She is being held on a $18,000 bond.

Court records do not list an attorney for either of the Maces. According to Ash, the couple's children are in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

While in the back of the police car, the older brother convinced the younger brother to eat cocaine, which he had hidden in his rectum.

The in-car police video showed Deangelo pleading with his younger brother to eat the cocaine so that he could avoid a life-long prison sentence. His young brother eventually agreed, and died of a drug overdose shortly afterwards.

“It’s sickening,” North Charleston Police Chief Jon Zumalt told WCIV. “I got upset when I saw the thing. I was pretty shocked on it.”

Deangelo bonded out of jail on the drug charge on December 1, but police later decided to charge him with involuntary manslaughter and are currently looking for him.

A woman allegedly doing her holiday shoplifting at a Christmas Craft Fair Sunday afternoon is facing a host of felony charges after police say she stabbed someone with a seashell Christmas ornament.

Ruth Wagner, of Burritt Street in the Plantsville section of town, was arrested Sunday afternoon at her home. Police were led to Wagner after witnesses took down her license plate as she fled from the craft fair at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, police said.

Wagner was charged charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace. She posted $100,000 bail and is to be arraigned Dec. 5.

Sgt. Lowell DePalma said a vendor at the craft fair had grown suspicious of Wagner after noticing a piece of jewelry disappear from a place where she'd been browsing. The vendor kept an eye on Wagner when she returned and saw her lift the seashell Christmas ornament. The vendor tried to confront Wagner, but Wager quickly walked off, DePalma said.

"The vendor starts yelling to stop her, that she stole stuff," DePalma said.

A woman standing near the door heard the vendor and tried to block Wagner's path. That's when Wagner stabbed the woman in the right forearm with the ornament, DePalma said. A piece of the ornament broke off in the victim's arm and surgery was necessary to remove it, he said.

Police used information from witnesses to track down Wagner at her home, he said.

Teenager and pastor arrested for "Craigslist killings"

A teenage boy and a 52-year-old pastor have been arrested in connection with three murders in Ohio that have been dubbed the “Craigslist killings.”

Brogan Rafferty, 16, and Richard Beasley are being questioned in a series of murders in which people were lured to rural areas after responding to help-wanted advertisements seeking farmhands on Craigslist. Three people were killed after being robbed, and their bodies were found in shallow graves in rural areas outside of Akron, Ohio. A fourth escaped after being shot.

“Remote farm job? Just say no,” Rita Handrich, a legal editor, tweeted.

Rafferty has been charged with attempted murder for his role in the plot. Beasley has not yet been charged but is being held on charges related to prostitution. Earlier today, Yvette Rafferty went on Good Morning America to maintain her son’s innocence, saying he had been influence by Beasley.

"Brogan looked up to Chaplain Rich Beasley," she said. "For 10 years now he's been taking the church and Bible studies. … I know one thing, my son told me that he didn't do it. And I believe it. There is a monster here. But it's not my son.”

A “free Brogan Rafferty page” on Facebook has drawn 51 followers, but most of the posters seemed to have joined to criticize the young suspect.

“Using peoples desire to work in order to kill them...seriously, that's pretty nasty,” Tristian Farmer posted on the page.

Beasley, who is being held as police try to build a criminal case against him in the murders, has spent 15 of the past 30 years in prison. His mother told Good Morning America that her son was trying to help Brogan, who struggled in school after his parent’s divorce, and the two would go fishing and play video games together.

“More craigslist killers?!? This time in Ohio... Ugh, I'm just turning off the news, not a good way to start the day, need positive thoughts,” Kimberly Temen tweeted Monday morning.

The case reminded many of the Boston case where a medical student killed a prostitute he met through Craigslist in a botched robbery attempt, as well as 2002’s Beltway sniper attacks, in which an older man and a teenage boy randomly killed 10 people in a three-week period.

Philip Markoff, the suspect in the Boston case, killed himself in prison last year while awaiting trial. The outcry over the case drew attention to the escort ads on Craiglist, prompting the company to eventually stop publishing them.

The most recent case renewed calls for more regulation for Craigslist.

“More horror that starts at craigslist. How long before regulation happens?”
