Larry Dee Carruth, 56, of Greenville, was taken into custody near Caddo Mills Saturday night after reportedly being observed having sex with a miniature horse.

“Fortunately, we don’t encounter this sort of thing very often,” said Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks.

According to a report, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department was conducting surveillance for illegal hunters Saturday night.

A suspicious vehicle pulled up on County Road 2140 and a game warden and a landowner allegedly observed Carruth having sexual relations with a Shetland pony.

The game warden attempted to place Carruth under arrest and a fight ensued.

Carruth was arrested and charged with public lewdness, attempting to take a weapon from an officer, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

Carruth remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of a total of $39,000 bond.

“I have been in law enforcement for 36 years and I am still surprised at some of the things we encounter in this profession,” Meeks said. “From all accounts, the horse is in stable condition.”

(Reuters) - A 36-year-old woman was accused of causing $10,000 worth of damage to a painting by the late abstract expressionist artist Clyfford Still, a work valued at more than $30 million, authorities said on Wednesday.

A police report said Carmen Tisch punched and scratched the painting, an oil-on-canvas called "1957-J no.2", at the recently opened Clyfford Still museum in Denver and pulled her pants down to slide her buttocks against it.

Tisch was charged with felony criminal mischief on Wednesday and has been held on a $20,000 bond since the incident in late December, said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Kimbrough said Tisch urinated after she rubbed up against the canvas, but whether urine got on the painting was still under investigation, she said.

Born in North Dakota in 1904, Still was considered one of the most influential of the American post-World War Two abstract expressionist artists, although he was not as well known as others such as Jackson Pollock.

Still died in 1980, and the city of Denver worked for years with his widow, Patricia, to secure the single-artist museum. She died in 2005, and her husband's collection was bequeathed to the city.

Four of Still's works were auctioned by Sotheby's last year for $114 million to endow the Denver museum, which opened with much fanfare in November.

Because Still closely guarded his works, most of the pieces at his namesake museum had not previously been displayed.

A Fort Pierce police officer Dec. 17 was in Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute's emergency room when Isreal Rosado, 44, was discharged. Rosado refused to leave until he got a meal, and police told him to leave.

"The suspect would not follow orders given and pulled his penis out and urinated on the floor," an affidavit states.

An officer directed Rosado to a phone after he said he needed a ride. Dispatch officials reported Rosado called and said he had "mental problems." The officer told Rosado he needed to vacate the premises, and he said he wanted to go to a mental health center for a meal.

Another officer said Rosado, of the 700 block of Palm Avenue in Fort Pierce, previously called 911 for a ride.

He was arrested on charges including misuse of 911 and trespass after warning.

The officer patted Rosado down for weapons and he "continued to pass gas."

Officers responded to a report of a brawl outside a Kailua-Kona bar on Christmas Eve and arrived to find four men with injuries from an attack. Bar patrons were holding Gregory Haas, 45, who witnesses told police attacked the men with the bone.

"He did indicate that he did actually find it in pastureland here in the Kona area," Lt. Gerald Wike said Wednesday. The weapon was recovered at the scene and taken as evidence. Police are sure it's a bone from a large animal and are trying to determine with certainty that it's from a cow.

"It's unusual someone using that as a weapon," he said. "This is the first that I have experienced an assault taking place with what appears to be an animal bone."

The attack in the Gold Coast Center parking lot was "unprovoked," Wike said, adding that Haas appeared to be intoxicated.

One of the victims, 40, was hit in the head and airlifted to a Honolulu hospital in critical condition. He has since been discharged and returned to the Big Island, Wike said. Another man, 25, was treated at Kona Community Hospital for cuts to his head and released. Two others, 65 and 49, received injuries that did not require medical attention.

He was charged with one count of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, according to the Hawaii County prosecuting attorney's office. Russell Mace, 55, was arraigned in Bantam Superior Court Monday, charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and two counts of impairing the morals of a child. Judge Richard Marino set Mace's bond at $100,000 and ordered him to appear in court again on Jan. 4.

Mace's charges stem from a bizarre bank robbery that occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 16 at the Union Savings Bank on East Street in New Milford. While the robbery itself was par for the course, police said that Mace's alleged activities prior to the heist were far from normal.

"It's a first in my career," New Milford Police Lt. Lawrence Ash told The Huffington Post.

Minutes before the robbery, a female witness saw Mace exiting a white Toyota Camry that was in the bank parking lot. Afterward, he squatted down and began "pooping," the witness said according to the arrest affidavit.

"The customer told me that the man was going to the bathroom and [said] 'he's not doing what you think he’s doing,'" the teller told police. "The customer said he's doing a number 2, and he's not being discreet."

After allegedly finishing the bowel movement, Mace, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants, headed for the bank entrance.

"Before they had any time to react to what was occurring outside, the accused robber entered the bank and demanded money," Ash said.

Mace, whom a male teller later described as "sweating" and "nervous," allegedly put his hand in his pocket and said: "This is a robbery. Give me all your money. Don't include any singles ... and don't do anything stupid."

The pooping bandit was given more than $3,000 in cash. Money in hand, he exited the bank and got into his waiting getaway vehicle, where his wife and two children, ages 1 and 4, were waiting, police said.

It did not take long for investigators to come up with a suspect in the case.

"He was identified by bank surveillance images," Ash said. "Some of our officers recognized him from prior contact."

That prior contact occurred on Nov. 23, when someone snatched a purse containing $80 in cash and several credit cards from a woman in the parking lot of a New Milford store. The woman told police a car had pulled up next to her shopping cart and that a woman reached out the window and grabbed her purse. Using surveillance camera footage, police were able to trace the car's license plate to Mace's wife, Erin Mace, 35.

In November, Police went to the Maces' apartment on two separate occasions -- once on the Nov. 23 and once on the Nov. 26 -- to question the couple. During the first visit, Russell Mace denied that he or his wife were involved in the purse snatching.

"We were not there," he told police. "I don't care if God said so."

During the second visit, the couple's 4-year-old child asked the officers, "Are you going to arrest my daddy?" The child then blurted out, "Daddy didn't take the purse ... my Mommy did. ... She took it right from the fat lady," the police report stated.

The Maces agreed to come to police headquarters for further questioning. When they failed to show up, a warrant was issued for their arrest.

Once police had identified Russell Mace as the man in the bank surveillance footage, they pinged the location of the cellphone that he had listed in the prior police report. They successfully traced the phone's location to a New Britain drug store.

In custody, Russell Mace refused to speak with police.

"He has not offered any explanation for any of his actions," Ash said.

According to the News Times of Danbury, Russell Mace suffers from "nervous bowels." The newspaper also said he has a prior criminal record in Connecticut. Mace reportedly served time in a federal prison for a 1989 bank robbery.

Erin Mace told police she didn't know her husband had planned to rob the bank. "I thought Russell might have had to cash a check," she told police. She said it was not until he got in the car and pulled out a handful of cash that she was aware of what he had done.

"At this point, I had a pretty good idea that he robbed the bank," she told police.

Investigators recovered $2,777 of the stolen loot. Erin Mace told police that she and her husband had used a portion of the money to purchase heroin, medication and food for the children.

"Russell is not a violent person," Erin Mace told police. "He never had a gun and would never be violent towards another person. Russell robbed the bank out of desperation. Russell was just doing it for the family."

Erin Mace was charged with third-degree burglary from a vehicle, fifth-degree larceny and risk of injury to a minor. Authorities are still weighing potential charges against her in relation to the bank robbery. She is being held on a $18,000 bond.

Court records do not list an attorney for either of the Maces. A South Carolina man died within an hour after eating cocaine that was hidden in his brother’s rectum, according to ABC4 News.

The two brothers, 23-year-old Deangelo Rashard Mitchell and 20-year-old Wayne Mitchell, were taken into custody on allegations they had drugs in their car. While in the back of the police car, the older brother convinced the younger brother to eat cocaine, which he had hidden in his rectum.

The in-car police video showed Deangelo pleading with his younger brother to eat the cocaine so that he could avoid a life-long prison sentence. His young brother eventually agreed, and died of a drug overdose shortly afterwards.

“It’s sickening,” North Charleston Police Chief Jon Zumalt told WCIV. “I got upset when I saw the thing. I was pretty shocked on it.”

By the time the officers arrived, they said three people had already been assaulted by the 33-year-old man with the toy.

One officer attempted to calm the man down, but he kept swinging the lightsaber and yelling incoherent statements, police said.

The officers then tried to use a Taser on him, but the man managed to break the wires free using the lightsaber.

After the Taser attempts, police were able to tackle him and take him into custody.

The suspect, David Canterbury, was treated for injuries and taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.

Canterbury was placed on a police hold at the hospital and given citations for three counts of fourth-degree assault, one count of third-degree theft, one count of resisting arrest and one count of interfering with a police officer.

Ruth Wagner, of Burritt Street in the Plantsville section of town, was arrested Sunday afternoon at her home. Police were led to Wagner after witnesses took down her license plate as she fled from the craft fair at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, police said.

Wagner was charged charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace. She posted $100,000 bail and is to be arraigned Dec. 5.

Sgt. Lowell DePalma said a vendor at the craft fair had grown suspicious of Wagner after noticing a piece of jewelry disappear from a place where she'd been browsing. The vendor kept an eye on Wagner when she returned and saw her lift the seashell Christmas ornament. The vendor tried to confront Wagner, but Wager quickly walked off, DePalma said.

"The vendor starts yelling to stop her, that she stole stuff," DePalma said.

A woman standing near the door heard the vendor and tried to block Wagner's path. That's when Wagner stabbed the woman in the right forearm with the ornament, DePalma said. A piece of the ornament broke off in the victim's arm and surgery was necessary to remove it, he said.

Brogan Rafferty, 16, and Richard Beasley are being questioned in a series of murders in which people were lured to rural areas after responding to help-wanted advertisements seeking farmhands on Craigslist. Three people were killed after being robbed, and their bodies were found in shallow graves in rural areas outside of Akron, Ohio. A fourth escaped after being shot.

“Remote farm job? Just say no,” Rita Handrich, a legal editor, tweeted.

Rafferty has been charged with attempted murder for his role in the plot. Beasley has not yet been charged but is being held on charges related to prostitution. Earlier today, Yvette Rafferty went on Good Morning America to maintain her son’s innocence, saying he had been influence by Beasley.

"Brogan looked up to Chaplain Rich Beasley," she said. "For 10 years now he's been taking the church and Bible studies. … I know one thing, my son told me that he didn't do it. And I believe it. There is a monster here. But it's not my son.”

A “free Brogan Rafferty page” on Facebook has drawn 51 followers, but most of the posters seemed to have joined to criticize the young suspect.

“Using peoples desire to work in order to kill them...seriously, that's pretty nasty,” Tristian Farmer posted on the page.

Beasley, who is being held as police try to build a criminal case against him in the murders, has spent 15 of the past 30 years in prison. His mother told Good Morning America that her son was trying to help Brogan, who struggled in school after his parent’s divorce, and the two would go fishing and play video games together.

The case reminded many of the Boston case where a medical student killed a prostitute he met through Craigslist in a botched robbery attempt, as well as 2002’s Beltway sniper attacks, in which an older man and a teenage boy randomly killed 10 people in a three-week period.

Philip Markoff, the suspect in the Boston case, killed himself in prison last year while awaiting trial. The outcry over the case drew attention to the escort ads on Craiglist, prompting the company to eventually stop publishing them.

Police discovered the bizarre incident after reports of a naked man and woman running along a road in Snellville, Ga., about 25 miles northeast of Atlanta, on Sunday night, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The disrobed pair fled home, but when police knocked on their door, 25-year-old Nicholas Modrich answered it naked.

"They were tripping pretty hard," Snellville police Capt. Harold Thomas told the Journal Constitution, adding that both Modrich and Jamie Hughes, also 25, would face drug charges after being released from a local hospital. Animal cruelty charges were also possible.

Modrich and Hughes admitted that they took LSD and also said that they gave some to "Oscar," who was missing, police said.

After determining that Oscar was a dog, cops began a search but did not find him in time to prevent the dog from being hit by a vehicle.

Oscar survived, and was taken to a local veterinarian. Kevin Guerin, 57, who was already facing felony charges in connection to an alleged hate crime assault on Oct. 4, failed in his attempt to drill into his brother’s forehead because the drill bit fell out during the attack, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

So Guerin allegedly bashed his brother over the head with the drill before letting him go free around 9 a.m., Andraychak said.

The vicious familial attack occurred in the bedroom of a home in the 100 block of Judson Avenue, which is in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

The officer who responded to the fight found the victim’s blood in front of the home. He then learned that the beaten brother had fled to a neighbor’s house and called police.

Before being transported to the hospital, the victim told the officer that Guerin became enraged at him during an argument about a broken lock on a bathroom door.

The victim had apparently asked Guerin not to remove a piece of tape on the bathroom lock, but Guerin didn't heed the request and they argued, Andraychak said.

The victim then decided he might as well fix the lock, so he fetched an electric drill. Guerin apparently became angry that his brother was going to fix the lock, Andraychak said. He grabbed the drill from his brother, pushed him into the master bedroom, forced him on a bed and screamed, “I’m going to kill you!” police said.

“He squeezed the trigger of the drill, and the bit began to spin,” Andraychak said. “The victim struggled as the suspect attempted to put the drill closer to his face and head. Rather fortunately, the bit fell out of the drill.”

Guerin then struck his brother with the drill and let him go. The brother suffered facial injuries that were not life threatening, Andraychak said.

Police found Guerin hiding out in the garage of the home.

On Monday, the San Francisco district attorney’s office charged Guerin with four felony counts including assault with a deadly weapon. The charges were enhanced due to Guerin’s Oct. 4 assault case.

Guerin remains in custody. The woman, 43, told cops she was holding the Sawzall power tool because an intruder had escaped out of her daughter's window, according to the Daily Herald.

Officers did not believe her account after checking the girl's room and finding it was fitted with a child lock and could not open more than a few inches.

"There was no evidence there was an intruder," Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

The wife was arrested for first-degree domestic violence assault and a judge set bail at $250,000 Monday in Everett District Court.

The husband, 36, said he woke up to find a power tool on his neck, which was switched on.

He was treated in hospital for cuts to his neck and shoulder, according to reports.

The victim said it was dark when he first woke but witnessed his wife holding the power saw as soon as he turned the light on.

He also told police he was cut with a hatchet.

Officers saw smeared blood on the woman's clothes, blood was splattered on the carpet and walls inside the family home and also on a saw found on the bedroom floor, the Daily Herald reported.

Mark Bradford, of Plymouth, England, became unhinged after his character was murdered, but also because he said the 13-year-old who took the shot called him a name. The two were playing the game over the Internet, and using microphones to talk.

Bradford knew where the boy lived, stormed over to his house and grabbed the boy's throat with both hands, according to the youngster's mother, who came to his rescue, says a report in The Mirror. The boy had some scratches, but was unharmed physically.

"It wasn’t malice. I just grabbed him. I’ve seen him since and apologized. The injuries weren’t that bad but I do regret it," Bradford told the court Thursday.

Bradford's attorney, Tracey Baker, said her client "just lost it," but that the attack wasn't planned, said the Plymouth Herald.

What is planned is an Oct. 24 sentencing hearing for Bradford, who was released on bail.

A man placed an order at a Taco Bell in Missouri last Saturday then drove home and noticed he hadn't been given his hot sauce.

Such thefts became routine within the past year at fabric and hobby stores.

"We've never caught them red-handed but that sounds just like them," said Mark Sauer, the owner of the Sewing Studio Fabric Superstore on U.S. Highway 17-92 in Maitland. "In my memory, they had been coming in on Friday nights in a group. They wore makeup but I don't remember them wearing dresses."

At Jo-Ann Fabrics on Sunday, the staff recognized four transvestites, including one in a tight white knit skirt, enter the store at about 5 p.m. as some of the same men they had reported at least three previous times to Orlando police, according to interviews and police reports.

"They'd come in and order yards of fabric at up to $39.99 a yard, stuff it in their man purses and leave without paying," Marshall said. "Oh, gosh, they could wipe out a whole section of boas in seconds…"

A man wearing a tank top and multi-color tights was spotted putting these items in a handbag: Five packs of black feathers, two packs of red feathers, two packs of red lace gloves, two packs of black red lace gloves, eyelashes, five bra pads, five butt pads, five gel inserts as well as three handbags, two boas, three pairs of costume glasses and 10 bandanas.

When confronted, some of the suspects handed over merchandise to the staff while others bolted through the front door.

One of them, Demitri Marsh, 19, swore at a clerk and threatened to cut her before fleeing, reports state.

An elderly woman told Conway police that a man approached her while she was sitting outside her apartment and put her toes in his mouth. Another woman said a man asked to suck her toes in a discount store. A third woman reported something similar in a pet store.

It's not clear if the same man is behind the incidents.

The elderly woman described her assailant as Hispanic or Asian. The other two women described an older white man.

Employees told police they saw Scott T. Shover, 53, of the 100 block of Noble Avenue, eat from several packages without paying about 2:40 p.m. Monday. The meat was valued at $24.53, police said.

Loss prevention staff and a manager followed Shover out of the store and notified a nearby police officer.

Shover was taken into custody, police said. September 9, 2011 (HOMEWOOD, Ill.) -- A Homewood woman died Thursday after apparently injecting heated beef fat into her face at her south suburban home.

Janet Hardt, 63 of 1036 W. 186th St. in Homewood, was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A source said shortly before Hardt died she injected heated beef fat into her face around her mouth and chin, which she had done before on several occassions.

Hardt went to the hospital after complaining that her face became singed and felt like it was burning, according to the source.

She has previously undergone multiple facial surgeries, the source said.

An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of her death is scheduled for later Friday, according to the medical examiner's office.

A message left with Homewood Police was not immediately returned Friday morning.

Milton Ellis, 69, said that he had fallen asleep in his electric wheelchair on the porch of a vacant Hooters in St. Petersburg. He awoke to find Josephine Smith on top of him.

"I’m a vampire, I am going to eat you," Smith told Ellis, according to an affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun.

St. Petersburg police said that Smith had bitten chunks off of Ellis' face and part of his lip.

Ellis called police after escaping to a nearby Shell gas station where he had first met Smith earlier in the evening. When police finally located Smith -- covered in blood -- at the Hooters, she could not recall the location of her pants or why her panties were around her ankles. Ellis maintains that she was fully clothed when he left her.

Smith was arrested on charges of assaulting an elderly person and was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Ellis had also been arrested at least 12 times over the past four years for panhandling, disorderly intoxication and other minor charges, police said.
